S.Booker, my friend!

Too much can happen in too little time! Only this past week my friend, S. Booker, wound up in CVPH due to an undetected brain tumor from cancer. He almost burned his residence down. And now due to the medical damage, his cognitive and speech functions are impaired. But he was living in fairly unclean circumstances, I'm certain.
I have know this man for over 30 years and collected his work, but only once visited his home. If I am going to call him my friend, or you are going to do the same for someone you know; as we age in our small ways we need to watch out for each other. Not just in public, but in private as well.
I feel both enraged at myself and guilty for not doing so even though I have my own disability and medical issues.
From 1980-2000, I lost dozens of good friends to AIDS largely through governmental neglect. Now, it is age that is cropping off my friendships and family because I wasn't paying attention! Call! Don't text or wait for the next Fartbook status! Don't make the same error! Be there even if you have to put your foot in the door! Make sure they're safe for your own peace of mind!
